Carotid Artery Stenting (CAS) was developed about 20 years ago as a less invasive treatment for carotid artery disease compared with carotid endarterectomy (CEA). This book provides an updated overview about materials, including new devices to simplify the carotid approach, as well as tips and tricks to avoid intra-procedural and post-procedural complications and suggestions on how to diagnose and deal with them. Starting from the history of CAS it reviews most of the critical points necessary to prove that CAS is eventually non-inferior to CEA, at least in experienced centers and suitable patients.
